yeah well im a cross country and track runner and i cant seem t get a good set of abs. we do like anywhere from 50-100 situps a day at practice but it aint working, if someone could give me some simple things to do on my own time to build up a nice set of abs i would appreciate it.
Good set of abs meaning what exactly? What are your stats?
abs = diet.
I swear, I am gonna invent the buffinator ab3000 and sell them for $100 each. I could be a millionaire. Situps do not equal abs. Abs come from your diet. Situps only make your abdomen strong. I know some guys who have a hellified set of abs under their 20lbs of stomach fat.
bump that!!! abs are made in the kitchen
Yeah, but you'd figure you'd be lean to be a cross country and track runner.
True dat
and i though this was a conspiracy thread to get me.. :40

:yeah seeing your abs all has to do with lowering your bf% like buff said.
its that simple.
to build solid abs, you need to train with resistance. this is a must! just like any other muscle group, you need to add weight in order for them to grow.

bump QOD! Situps, crunches, etc. are mainstream ab workouts forcefed into people's brains... Just like building any other muscle, you hafta add resistance. So, therefore, one good resistance training workout would be this: use the tricep pressdown cable (from overhead) with the rope (my fav). Get on your knees with your fists (holding rope ends) around your forehead, and just do crunches. Anyone feel free to tweak this... :cents
Now you say its mostly in the diet, which I totaly agree with. What I dont understand is that I see guys who drink beer like its water and eat like shit but yet they are still in shape and cut. I go to WVU and its alot harder to keep up with a strict diet, but why the hell is it so hard for me to achieve this goal than others?
you obviously have a slow metabolism. My training partner eats a friggin snickers bar before every work out and will drink just about every weekend and he's got a full set of abs at about 8% bf.
I on the other hand, have to eat very strict and do a shit load of cardio and not drink in order to stay at 8%.
Genetics my man, Genetics.
Sadly, it's true.
Dedication and sacrifices will lead you to achieving your goal. Now you have to ask yourself, does achieving your goal outweigh the sacrifices to be made or vice-versa.
It all depends where your fat storage is some guys (beer drinkers and burger eaters with abs) simply have very low fat storage... If you want to see your abbs build some muscle and get rid of your fat!!!
