I use thick rolled oats and put about half a bowl full into a fairly decent size bowl-- not quite a Jethro bowl but larger than a typical cereal bowl-- and add a heaping amount of unsalted peanuts, raisins, a little honey, a liberal amount of whey protein (Strawberry), and about 3 table spoons of Flax Oil, heat in microwave and stir. It is the best damn breakfast and takes about 3 minutes to make. Slow burning carbs, protein, and good fats. Fucking Yum.
do you make it with water, or milk?
I just use water... not a big fan of milk for whatever reason... but I'm sure it would turn out fine as well.
I'm trying to learn to love oatmeal.
What exactly are "thick rolled oats"?
Bone
thick rolled oats just means the flakes are bigger... takes longer to cook. You get a thicker oatmeal though once cooked.
did you try adding flavourings to your oatmeal?... or try boiling it in vanilla soy milk instead of water?
Dude,
I'm just trying to swallow the instant stuff. I don't mind the taste, it's the texture that makes it so hard to get down the pipe.
Suggestions?

bake it then... make oatmeal cookies and have a couple of those.
Hey man just a heads up, stay clear of the instant oatmeal. It tends to have alot of sugar.
