access calories are stored as fat regardless if it's protein. But If you have that protein drink in your daily ratio, it wont make you fat.

Whey protein before bed is the best you can have. Also have one if you get up to take a leak in the middle of the night, every night if you can. You will find a huge difference in recovery time, and in building new muscle. To answer your question; NO, it will not make you fat!!!!!

I wouldn't say whey protein though, it digests to quickly, casein would be best or any animal protein.

Having a protein shake is a very good idea if your goal is to get bigger/stronger........when your body goes all night without any food/protein it could possibly eat into your muscle, therefore, a protein shake imed. before bed is beneficial. It helps keep your body in anabolism rather than catabolism!
The other member is right about alittle bit of fat to go along with your shake, perhaps some flax seed capsules would work great. This helps slow down the digestion so that it will stay in your system longer, which will keep you in a anabolic state. I normally always have a Myoplex before bed with a few cla capsules. I prefer to have a meal replacement that has a few carbs because it helps me sleep since carbs. help elevate serotonin. Without serotonin, you will experience loss of sleep, sex drive, mood. Hope this helps!
